What is Office Chat?

Office Chat is a secure mobile messaging service for the business world designed for fast, action-oriented communication in teams and one-to-one. Communicate with pictures, files, videos and audio messages. Cross-platform messaging on iPhone, iPad, Android and Windows Desktop has never been easier. With long-term focus on high employee engagement, Office Chat quickly makes messaging the preferred medium for workplace communication.

 

The Office Chat Client

The Office Chat client is the easiest to get started with and start communication with your teams and colleagues. Just sign up, sign in, and get down to business communication.

1.  Sign Up
Using your company email ID, create your account. It’s that easy.
2.  Sign In
As a security measure you’ll receive an email with your temporary password. Use that password to sign in for the first time.
3.  Get down to business communication
Download the desktop app or a mobile version from the applicable app store and sign in. If you’re the first one in your Office Chat community, starting a chat with someone is as easy as entering their email address. They’ll be invited to Office Chat through email and can even respond to your chats through email.

 

Collaborating with Office Chat
You can start writing a conversation to anyone, anywhere, anytime by clicking the “Pencil” icon in the app.
During your conversation you can you can share files, pictures, videos and audio… any file type and practically any size up to 2GB.
Conversations can be one-to-one conversations or group discussions with multiple users simultaneously.
Start a new conversation any time by clicking the “circle-plus” icon.

 

Office Chat Messenger

To start a chat…

  1. Go to the “Messenger” in Office Chat and choose the (pencil) “Start a Conversation” icon.
  2. Start typing an email address or colleague’s name or click the “Plus” sign to choose one or more colleagues that are already in Office Chat.
  3. Then just type your message.

It’s that easy.

 

Office Chat Profiles
Users have identities that you may not even know about. Office chat lets users fill in basic information like name and Mobile number. Their email is automatically shown as soon as they are invited. Then users can fill in more details if they wish in the “About” section of their profile. Even add or change the picture people see when you interact in Office Chat.

 

Invite Colleagues to Office Chat

Inviting colleagues to Office Chat is as easy as starting a chat and entering their email address. Invited colleagues get an email telling them where to go and what to do to log in to Office Chat to continue the conversation.

Even if they don’t log in or download a mobile or desktop client, they can respond to your conversation from the email that they receive. You’ll see their response in the conversation that you started.

Customize what happens in Office Chat by:

  • Controlling the pop-up notifications
  • Setting the sounds
  • Starting Office Chat on Windows Startup
  • Seeing potential Office Chat colleagues from Outlook
  • Enabling Hyper-real-time, character-by-character chat

Start chats.

If you have something you’re working on with colleagues, add them to Office Chat and start getting work done faster.

As colleagues get accustomed to working through Office Chat, teams will automatically start being formed just based on work collaboration.

Soon you’ll be able to quickly find the documents, pictures, videos, and audio associated with that team from anywhere… on desktop, on iPhone, iPad, or Android.

 

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need a private or corporate email address to create my Office Chat community?

Since communities should be private and made up of only employees with the same email domain, a public email domain like Gmail, Hotmail, or Yahoo doesn’t make sense for business. Creators of any Office Chat domain can invite members from public email domains after the domain has been created with a private or corporate email.

 

What are the minimum system requirements for Office Chat Desktop Client?

Office Chat is certified to run on Windows 7 or higher PC’s with 4GB of RAM.

There is currently no MacOS version of Office Chat.

 

What mobile devices does Office Chat support?

Office Chat can be downloaded for any current iOS or Android device from the respective App Stores. There is currently no client for Windows Phone or BlackBerry devices.

 

Are there any Administration or User Management capabilities in Office Chat?

With the initial release of Office Chat, there are no administrative or user management capabilities. These abilities will soon become available as a premium service of Office Chat. Users that do not need administrative or user management capabilities can continue to use Office Chat under the free plan.

 

How much does Office Chat cost?

Office Chat is a free service with premium features available such as User Management and Domain Administration capabilities.
